Realising the biophilic vision

Outside In designed and delivered bespoke suspended planting installations for KPMG Wellington to realise the biophilic vision established by Warren and Mahoney in the original interior concept. Working from the concept renders, we developed and installed a series of custom suspended planting frames across the staff hub and co-creation spaces. Circular hoop installations and long linear suspended runs bring cascading greenery overhead, transforming the ceiling plane into a living, breathing canopy.

A canopy above the kitchen

A large-scale suspended planting grid hangs above the kitchen and dining area, trailing lush greenery downward to create a sense of enclosure and warmth within the open-plan space. Integrated lighting within the installation adds depth and drama, casting a warm, natural quality of light across the space below and reinforcing the staff hub as the social and cultural centre of the workplace.

Sculptural freestanding planting in the co-creation space complements the suspended installations, with statement plants in refined planters introducing grounded moments of greenery that balance the drama overhead. Together, the suspended and freestanding elements create a cohesive and inspiring workplace environment that reflects the ambition of both the client and the design team.
